When Shah Rukh Khan Serenaded the Streets of Las Vegas, Nevada

Known for its great expanses of deserts, Nevada’s jewel of the desert is for sure Las Vegas. It’s no surprise then that Bollywood reached its pretty shores. Back in 1997, in the superhit film Pardes (who else but) Shah Rukh Khan chased his heroine all the way to the Entertainment Capital of the World giving life to one of the most famous songs of the time. Yeh Dil Deewana, in Sonu Nigam’s unforgettable sonorous voice, made it to the top of all the music charts in India, and with it came scenes from Las Vegas where SRK and his damsel in distress roamed around looking for each other.

Las Vegas is known for The Strip, with the world’s best casinos, shops, theatres, restaurants and hotels packed within five miles of each other, but there’s more to the city than just nightlife.

Attend the Life Is Beautiful Festival, held every year, an open air art fest that covers the city in beautiful murals and street art. Since its inception in 2013, it has become an international event with several artistes from all across the world participating – turning the city into an open art gallery!

Explore Vegas’s natural beauty. It’s not all about casinos and shows in Las Vegas. About 50 km from the city, the beautiful Hoover Dam is where you can go for hikes to take in the beautiful surrounds of the back canyon of the Colorado River. In fact the city is surrounded by mountains and canyons and nature lovers will find a lot to do around here – visit the Red Rock National Conservation Area or Mount Charleston for lovely forested treks and hikes.

For those who do not get to experience the thrill of winning at the casinos, adventure sports is another way of getting your thrills at Vegas. Zip-lining at Boulder City, SkyJump, a 800-ft free-fall from the Stratosphere Tower and flying a real fighter jet with Sky Combat Ace are just some of the options.
