Born in New Delhi in 1951, Amit Khanna went on to write over 400 songs and won the National Award for his work in the film Bhairavi. An early starter, he wrote his first poem at 14 and first play at 15. Amit Khanna played a key role in AIR famous youth programme Yuv Vani in 1969, which is a time he was also active in the theatre circuit.

Producer, director, lyricist, Amit Khanna has collaborated with several well known artistes and filmmakers, most notably Dev Anand, and produced over 3,000 hours of television programming alone.
