Son of the renowned sitar player Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Shujaat Khan has carved a niche for himself not just in classical music but also intelligent fusion. A highly accomplished sitarist, Ustad Shujaat Khan comes from a long line of successful Indian classical musicians and has carried forward the legacy of his family as the seventh generation of the illustrious Imdad Khan gharana (named after his great-grandfather). His musical heritage has made significant contributions to the world of music – one of them being the gayaki ang (vocal style) in a stringed instrument.
